\n\t\t\t\t\t\tKetamine is an NMDA receptor antagonist. This means it is able to block certain receptors in our brain, creating the effects of a dissociative drug that works as a psychedelic agent. It is in the same class of drugs as psilocybin (magic mushrooms), LSD, MDMA, DMT, and ayahuasca. Ketamine is given most commonly through intravenous routes as well as intramuscular injections. These routes provide the most available amount of the drug in your body's circulation and tend to be the most effective. One can also medicate with Ketamine through an inhalation route with a nasal spray of Esketamine (a specific subtype of Ketamine). Oral Ketamine can come in the form of lozenges and troches.
